  • Best for: generating/changing lots of IDFs, teaching, small batch runs

  • Pros: simple, lightweight, pure Python

  • Cons: no API, calibration/parallelism are DIY

 

 

EnergyPlus-MCP (server/API)

 

  • Serves EnergyPlus via REST (FastAPI) with orchestration & calibration

  • Best for: web apps, digital twins, M&V services, cloud/containers

  • Pros: API-driven, parallel runs, calibration workflows, easy to integrate

  • Cons: heavier setup (Docker, server), needs hosting
